OOTD and Valencia

Ah Valencia. Where do I begin?

Before leaving for the cruise, all I knew about Valencia was that there were oranges there and that it was in Spain. Yay for my geography skills and general knowledge.

But oh hot damn this city is way more than oranges, it quickly became my favourite place we'd visited.

Aesthetically, it's such a beautiful place, with a real mismatch of colours and architectural styles. So much of it was bold and beautiful, full of quaint side streets like this one which would appear from no where off a bustling touristy street. That was one thing I loved, how you could have the buzz of the city one moment, with its crowded market place, then two minutes later be wandering along in peace and quiet.

It was a city of contradictions, with tourist traps and garish shops nestled alongside gorgeous tapas bars where the locals sat, ancient buildings next to bright modern ones, and so many culture clashes.

There's so much history there and interesting places to explore, since it was initially founded as a Roman colony. So if like me history and culture is your thang you should definitely shift your booty there asap.

If that doesn't float your boat though, it's worth it for the food and shops, plus it's along the coast- and whoever doesn't think sea and sun is the best combination is wrong.

I had one of the best meals of my life there, and I didn't stop inhaling all the tapas to take a photo which I think is testament to how good the food was. I speak some Spanish, so my family shoved the menu at me and told me to order whatever sounded good so I went a bit nuts but thank goodness I did.

Personal faves are patatas bravas with aioli (garlic mayo), pane con tomate (literally just bread with tomatoes and olive oil but yuuuum), spanish tortilla and olives all washed down with a big ol glass (or jug, I'm not judging) of sangria.

Plus I was a fan of my outfit that day so I'm just gonna whack that in too. I'm basically living in this cute Miss Selfridge denim skirt at the moment, because it goes with everything and is perfect for the hot weather.

I paired it with a men's Tommy Hilfiger t-shirt which was an absolute steal from Bicester village, and if you haven't been there yet you definitely need to go because bargains galore.

Then my trusty Stradivarius trainers I mentioned in the last post which deserve another mention because a) super comfy and b) yay they give me height without having to wear heels.

I'm gonna go and make a load of tapas for lunch now and sit in the garden pretending I'm still on holiday because yay it's sunny and the weekend!
